In partnership with Queens-based coffee brand Mizar Coffee, I was given the opportunity to travel to rural Ethiopia to shoot and direct a narrative short film about coffee farmers. After tons of research, I wrote and rewrote the script and had it translated into Amharic. The cast and crew consisted solely of Ethiopian locals, the film is entirely in Amharic, a language I don’t speak at all but was a necessity to keep the story authentic. Creating this film was the most challenging project I’ve ever taken on, and I could not be more excited to share it.
